DESALINATION PLANT IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF HYDRA
INAUGURATION BY THE MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT, DEVELOPMENT & CLIMATE CHANGE

​​ The inauguration of TEMAK’s desalination plant, which supplies1600m3/day drinking water to Hydra, took place on 25/08/2014.

The Minister of Environment Mr. Yannis Maniatis, praised the initiative of the Municipality of Hydra and called the project very important and innovative, since the installed desalination system produces excellent drinking water. During his speech, the Minister announced that the solution of desalination will be implemented soonest in all regions of the country that suffer from drought.

For the successful completion and operation of the DESALINATION plant, TEMAK’ team – the design department, production department, the technicians and all in the company, as well as our distinguished partners-worked hard, methodically and responsibly for many months.

This DESALINATION plant, like all those which already operate in the Greek islands and abroad, which made by TEMAK, are the answer-solution to the problem of water scarcity in the country.  It is the answer of the know-how and the expertise we have accumulated in Greece, so we can say with pride that in TEMAK we build some of the best and most complete desalination plants in the world.

This is the Greek way to provide to all our islands and develop our tourism, drinking water from DESALINATIONS made by Greek hands, envisioned and designed by Greek minds, plants that contribute to the strengthening of the Greek economy, always with respect to the environment.

Mr. Kotronis, the Mayor of Hydra, who was the next in order speaker, reported in detail the steps of this success story, from the initial decision making to the installation and set in operation of the desalination plant, all the obstacles and difficulties encountered, but also the reward to his efforts, when excellent water was finally delivered to the residents of Hydra.

At the end, TEMAK’s chairman of Mr. Herodes Mitsopoulos presented and guided the Minister and the regional representatives, at the desalination plant.
