INSTALLATION OF TWO NEW SYSTEMS

Two new systems for the removal of iron and manganese from the water were installed in the Municipality of Therapna.  The first system with capacity 60 cmph was installed at the village of Skoura and the second system, with capacity 20 cmph at the village of Platanas.

From chemical and microbiological point of view, the product water is of excellent drinking quality, and complies fully with the EU directives and Greek legislation.

The iron and manganese in the water get oxidized in an aeration pipe.  The water gets through a multimedia pressure filter, of appropriate dimensions and coated by an epoxy paint approved for use in drinking water.

The filter's backwash is automatic and is completed in two stages: the filling materials are stirred by air, followed by backwash with filtered water for maximum efficiency.
